  • Is the property handicap accessible?
No. Access to our 200+ year old property does not lend itself to guests with disabilities. We are located on a step street, which means that there is a short set of stairs from the parking area to the hotel front gate. Once you are within the property however, there are only a few small steps that guests would need to navigate.
  • Are there any additional fees (resort, wifi, breakfast, etc.)?"
Absolutely not. The only charge beyond our room rate is hotel tax charged by the Government of the Virgin Islands on every hotel room in the territory. Breakfast, WIFI, pool access, pool towels, coffee/tea, and water are all included in your nightly room fee. Beer, wine and soda are usually available for purchase in our lobby.
  • What happens if my flight is delayed?
Please let us know if your flight is delayed. We know these things happen from time to time. We will accomodate your check-in time even if it's late. Please remember if your flight is cancelled or delayed overnight we cannot refund for this portion of your trip. Trip insurance is encouraged.

  • How many steps are there to access the rooms?
From the top of the step street, we are 18 steps down. Once on property there are 1 or 2 steps to enter the rooms.
  • Should we rent a car or use taxis?
This would depend on a number of factors. If you are comfortable driving on the left, on streets with less than optimal lighting and road signage, it can be quite the adventure. You may be able to access areas and beaches that taxis will not travel to. However, many of our guests decide that taxi is the way to go. They always know where they are going and get you home safely after a night out. For more info about driving on St Thomas please check our blog article.
  • How far are you from the airport; how expensive is the taxi?
We are approximately 15 minutes from the STT airport by car. A shared taxi typically costs $10 per person plus a few dollars for bags.
  • How do we get to the hotel if we are driving?
Using Google Maps is not generally helpful in the USVI for several reasons, most importantly is that some "roads" listed on Google Maps might not be an an actual road you would want to drive on: it might be a "step street". As such, we strongly encourage guests to follow our written directions instead. From the airport, turn right onto Veterans Drive and follow this road along the waterfront into town. Just past Fort Christian (the big red building on your left) make a left at the traffic light onto Hospital Gade. Go through one light and at the stop sign, make a left to go up Maude Proudfood Drive. Go up the hill a short distance and make your first left where you see our sign (the street is a bit hard to see and is a hard left turn). Follow that road until it curves to the right and you'll see the top of a step street. Park near the top of the step street where you see our sign and the stone parking area marked 25 Dronningens Gade. We are a short walk down to the front gate. And if you have any problems finding feel free to call us!
  • Where is your parking area?
The parking area is just above our property, about 18 steps up the step-street. There are enough spots for all of our guests to park for free on our street. The spots are marked with our sign.
  • Are the owners available?
Yes. We are generally available to assist guests in person or by phone. Our cell phone number is provided in each guest room, if there is something you need and we have stepped out don't hesitate to text or call.
  • Do you allow pets?
Not at this time. However, the owners have two very friendly dogs who enjoy a good pet if you miss your pets at home.
  • Will I have to eat breakfast with strangers?
No. We have tables that accomodate two people throughout our breakfast area, as well as a larger table for six. Tables can be pushed together for larger groups if guests desire, but there is no mandatory interaction with other guests. That being said, most of our guests enjoy talking to the owners and the other guests in the morning to get ideas for activities, restaurants and beaches to visit on the island.
  • What if I only need a room for 1 night?
Please email us. While we have a three night stay requirement, we may be able to accomodate a shorter stay if there is a vacancy within 45 days of your arrival. When a two night stay is available, we update the website to allow a two night booking.
